Staking Plans

A staking plan can be very useful in long-term football fixed odds betting. It ensures that you know how much you are spending each week, and over the long-term don't go bankrupt if you have a long losing streak.

The Martingale
This is a common roulette system. A supposed winner. We will show you why it is a bad idea to use this system.
The Pyramid
This is the roulette staking system that clued in gamblers use. Pay attention and see how it can be adapted for football fixed odds gambling.
The Bank Percentage Plan
This plan utilises simple mathematics and percentages in concert with a betting bank.
The Dynamic Bank Percentage Plan
This plan expands on the Bank Percentage Plan to use variable percentages and bank ranges.
Using the Odds to Determine your Staking plan
This plan shows how the odds of the matches that you bet on can be integral to your staking plan.

Staking: The Martingale

This system in Roulette is only popular with big-time gamblers, because of the risk involved. It consists of going for an even money bet (red or black), and doubling it every time that you lose until you win. The problem is, however, that if the stake is £10, six losses in a row (quite achievable) means that the next stake will have to be £640 - a big step up from £10. and difficult to cover. If that loses the next bet will be £1280, and then £2560!
If you are a VERY high roller, then it is conceivable that eventually your colour will come in. Unless that is the case, then you are in trouble should you have anything but the shortest of losing runs.
A far better system that has been adapted from Roulette is the
Pyramid system.

Staking: The Pyramid

With this system, there is again a change in the stake depending on whether you win or lose. However, if you win, subtract a unit of the stake. For example, if you are on 10 units of £1, and then win, subtract one unit for 9 units - £9. The exception is if you win on your first bet (which should be one unit). In this case, it stays as it is.
If you lose, then you add a unit. Thus, if your unit is £1, and you lose six times, the total stake will only be up to £6, rather than £64 as with the Martingale.
This system works well when choosing three teams, and perming any double or a treble. This is four bets @ 25p each - £1. The starting payout for simply two teams is £12.25 (at 6/1 odds).

As the table shows, only two of the 10 weeks are winning weeks, but the total profit is almost £1000. Even if week 9 hadn't been a winner there would still be profit at the end.
Even at even money payouts a long term profit can be made. For example;

Even here, with five wins and five losses there is still an overall profit made.

Staking:The Bank Percentage Plan

This staking plan involves the use of a betting bank, that is, a fixed amount of your money that you will set aside for the purposes of gambling. You select a percentage of your bank, and each week you bet however much is in your bank.
Assume that you have a bank of £100 and have chosen to use 5% as your weekly stake. Week one you will use £5. If you lose, for week two you will use 5% of £100 minus the £5 that you lost i.e. £95 - your stake will be £4.75.
The advantage of this system is that you will never lose your whole bank, as there will always be 95% of the previous week's bank.

Staking: The Dynamic Bank Percentage Plan

This is similar to the Bank Percentage Plan, except that you stick with a set percentage as long as your bank's worth is within a set range.
For example, assume your ranges are £0-£50, £50-£100, £100-£150, and £150-£200, and your range percentages are 5%, 10%, 15% and 20% respectively. If your bank is currently at £120, you will bet 15% of it (£18).
This plan allows you to bet more when you have more, and less when you have less. You have more room to lose when you are up, and the percentages reflect this. Never bet more than 25%, though.

Staking: Using the odds to determine your Stake Plan

The Martingale system (or Doubling up system) has already been mentioned as the road to bankruptcy because after 10 losing  bets you are up to a stake of £512 !!
A more sensible approach should be taken.
The following staking plans are safer (not necessarily safe but safer) and allow a losing steak that should not break the bank.
To use these plans make your selections and find what the expected odds will be i.e. if most weeks you bet on average 3 games @ 1.8 = 5.8 total accumulated odds. Now choose a plan with odds below this i.e. the 4-1 table ( decimal odds of 5 )
Each week use the appropriate stake and when you get a winning week you are guaranteed a profit - even after tax (paid on the stake).
Obviously the lower the odds on the staking plan in relation to the odds on your bet the greater the profit margin.
Hope that makes sense!!
